The Nahe river valley pleases its visitors and residents with a very mild climate, which may remind one of the south on hot summer days.
This is not only good for the wine but also for many rare plants and animals that have made this dry area their home. Just to exemplify a few of the many species we have needle grass, burning bush, French maple as well as green lizards and dice snakes.
The Soonwald-Nahe Nature Reserve is really blessed by the weather. It rains only half as much as in other low mountain ranges in Germany. The climate at the Nahe is dry and warm, in the Soonwald and on the Hunsrueck plateau though it is noticeably fresher with very good air values making it possible for visitors to choose a suitable place for excursions in any weather.
